Bhubaneswar, July 7 (UDN): In a major achievement for Odisha's healthcare and medical education sector, AIIMS Bhubaneswar has secured a place among India's Top 10 Medical Colleges in the prestigious India Today–MDRA Best Medical Colleges Survey 2026, reinforcing its growing stature as one of the country's premier medical institutions.
The institute has been ranked 10th nationally in the latest survey and has also emerged as the second most improved medical college in the country, reflecting its remarkable progress in academics, research, healthcare delivery and institutional development over the past few years.
The survey, conducted by India Today in collaboration with Marketing & Development Research Associates (MDRA), evaluated leading medical institutions across the country on key parameters, including academic excellence, governance, infrastructure, student experience, personality development and career progression.
Expressing happiness over the achievement, Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas said the recognition reflects the institute's unwavering commitment to excellence in medical education, cutting-edge research and quality patient care. He noted that AIIMS Bhubaneswar has steadily evolved into a trusted centre of healthcare, innovation and academic excellence, with its consistent rise in national rankings highlighting the dedication of its faculty, students and healthcare professionals.
The institute's remarkable climb from 25th position in 2021 to 10th place in 2026 underscores its rapid transformation into one of India's leading centres for medical education and tertiary healthcare.
A special felicitation programme was organised on the AIIMS Bhubaneswar campus to celebrate the achievement. Senior faculty members and administrative officials participated in the event, acknowledging the collective efforts that contributed to the institute's continued growth and national recognition.
