Gurugram, Oct 14: KIIT World School, Gurugram, organised a special wellbeing session titled ‘Mind Matters: Stress, Anxiety and Emotional Wellbeing’ for Class XI students to encourage open conversations about mental health and emotional wellbeing. Ms. Aashita Choudhary from Blue Circle Medi Services led the session, sharing valuable insights into mental health and practical ways to manage stress and anxiety.

The session focused on helping students understand how academic pressure, examination-related anxiety and everyday challenges can affect their emotional wellbeing. Students were encouraged to recognise their feelings, understand their emotional needs and seek help whenever required. They were also introduced to the ‘5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique’, a simple method that helps calm the mind during stressful situations and brings attention back to the present moment.
Another key highlight was the ‘Stress Bucket’ activity, which explained how small worries and everyday challenges can gradually build up and lead to increased stress. Through this activity, students learned the importance of identifying stress triggers and addressing their concerns before they become overwhelming.
The session also emphasised the importance of empathy, active listening and supporting peers who may be experiencing emotional difficulties. Through the ‘Listen, Ask, Tell’ approach, students learned how to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions and guide their friends towards a trusted adult or mental health professional when necessary.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Neelima Kamrah, Principal, KIIT World School, said,
“Mental wellbeing is essential for children's academic growth and a healthy future. We must create an environment where children feel comfortable expressing themselves without fear and seeking help whenever they need it. Open conversations about mental health help students understand their emotions and take the right steps during challenging times. Our aim is to ensure that every student feels safe, heard, understood and supported.”
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who gained practical knowledge about managing stress, understanding emotions and supporting one another. It reinforced the message that taking care of mental health is just as important as maintaining physical health.
Through such initiatives, KIIT World School aims to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to express their concerns, seek guidance and develop the emotional skills needed to navigate everyday challenges with confidence.
