Bengaluru, Oct 28: The Swedish Institute, in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden in India and Business Sweden, will host Work in Sweden 2026. This event will bring Indian technology and engineering professionals face to face with Swedish employers and organisations that support international talent in relocating to Sweden.
The initiative builds on Sweden’s appeal among international talent. A study published by the Swedish Institute in August 2026 found that more than 80% of surveyed STEM professionals across eight countries, including India, considered Sweden an attractive place to live and work. Through Work in Sweden, the Swedish Institute aims to help professionals better understand the opportunities available and connect with organisations that can offer first-hand perspectives on building a career in the country.
Recognised by the India-Sweden Joint Action Plan 2026–2030, Work In Sweden 2026 comes at a time of deepening India-Sweden cooperation. The programme is bringing global names such as Volvo Group and Koenigsegg, along with representatives from the Gothenburg region and International House Gothenburg to engage with the Indian talent.
This year’s annual showcase will feature employer presentations sharing perspectives on their workplaces, engineering capabilities and career opportunities, a briefing on migration procedures by the Embassy of Sweden, and an interactive session on career pathways and settling in Sweden.
H.E. Ms. Petra Menander, Ambassador of Sweden to India, said,
“India has developed a strong pool of STEM professionals whose technical expertise and capabilities are recognised globally. As India and Sweden deepen their partnership, we see significant potential in strengthening connections between this talent and Sweden’s industries. Through Work in Sweden, we hope to introduce more Indian professionals to the opportunities our country offers and encourage them to consider Sweden as a place to build both their careers and their lives.”
Sweden’s standing as the European Union’s leading innovation performer in the European Innovation Scoreboard 2026 further highlights its research and technology ecosystem. Its collaborative work culture and emphasis on work-life balance also offer important context for professionals evaluating international career opportunities.
Lisa Nyman, Project Manager, Swedish Institute, said,
“Through our Work in Sweden initiatives we want to help international professionals develop a clearer understanding of what Sweden has to offer, both in terms of an exciting and rewarding career and a balanced lifestyle with great quality of life. There is considerable interest in Sweden as a place to work and live, but many professionals are still unfamiliar with the opportunities available or how to take the next step. I look forward to joining Work in Sweden Bengaluru to engage with talented professionals in one of the world’s most prestigious tech hubs and present the path for those looking to join Sweden and shape the future.”
Sushma Uthappa, Head of Talent Acquisition, Koenigsegg, said,
“Indian engineers are known for their strong technical foundations and ability to solve complex problems, qualities that are highly valued in an innovation-driven company like Koenigsegg. Sweden offers a working environment that encourages new ideas and gives professionals the freedom to contribute meaningfully. We look forward to engaging with Indian engineering talent and sharing what it means to be part of our engineering culture.”’
Cecilia Hallengren Aronsson, Senior Vice President People and Culture at Volvo Group Trucks Technology & Industrial Division, said,
‘’The transformation of transport and infrastructure depends on talented people with different perspectives, experiences, and expertise. Both India and Sweden have a strong tradition of innovation and collaboration, and I look forward to meeting talented professionals in Bengaluru and sharing perspectives on the opportunities to build a career and contribute to that transformation.’’
At the Bengaluru event, Koenigsegg and Volvo Group will offer insights into the role of engineering talent within its innovation-driven environment.
Lovisa Bohlin, Manager, IHG said,
“For professionals considering a move to Sweden, understanding career opportunities and what life will be like for themselves, and their families is an important part of the decision. At International House Gothenburg, we offer free guidance and information to help international professionals explore the Swedish labour market, understand education opportunities, and prepare for everyday life in Sweden. We look forward to meeting participants in Bengaluru, introducing them to the opportunities and support available in the Gothenburg region, and answering their questions about building a future here.”
