May, 21: Ramraj Cotton , India’s premier ethnic wear brand and a leader in the traditional textile segment, has announced the appointment of S. Venugopalan Nair as its new Legal Head. With over three decades of proven experience in the legal arena, Venugopal joins the company’s leadership team to oversee legal affairs, Legal compliances, litigation, and intellectual property rights across both domestic and international markets.
Venugopal brings an extensive professional background spanning 30 years, during which he has developed a reputation for managing complex legal compliance and high-stakes litigations. His expertise covers a diverse array of sectors, including FMCG, manufacturing, retail, and food, making him a strategic fit for Ramraj Cotton as it continues to diversify its product portfolio beyond its signature dhotis and shirts.
His career began in 1995 as a practicing lawyer, eventually leading him to prominent roles in some of India’s most prestigious law firms and corporate houses. Prior to joining Ramraj Cotton, Venugopal served as the Legal Head for the Medimix Group (Cholayil Pvt Ltd), where he was instrumental in architecting the group’s legal strategy. His professional journey also includes impactful tenures at CavinKare, Toonz Group, Khazana Group, Khaitan & Co., Kochhar & Co. As Legal Head, Venugopal will leverage his unique blend of in-house and law firm expertise to navigate the regulatory complexities of corporate and global markets.
This leadership hire follows other recent high-level appointments at the company, including new CHRO, CMO, CTO, signaling a broader institutional shift toward a modern corporate structure while remaining rooted in its traditional "swadeshi" values.
