Mumbai, Oct 06: Nawab Saheb at The Westin Mumbai Powai Lake will host “Kashmir, By the Lake,” a three-evening culinary experience with Chef Nalini Moti Sadhu, Chef-Owner of Matamaal, from October 8th to 10th, 2026. Bringing the traditions of Kashmiri Pandit cuisine to Mumbai, the experience draws on the evocative connection between Powai Lake and Dal Lake, pairing a curated menu with elements of Kashmiri hospitality, music, art and storytelling.
At the heart of “Kashmir, By the Lake” is a shared sense of place. With Powai Lake as its setting, Nawab Saheb becomes a contemporary interpretation of the landscape that has long shaped Chef Nalini's culinary memories of Kashmir. From the traditional Kahwa welcome to Kashmiri-inspired décor, jal tarang and santoor music and a curated art bazaar, the evenings extend beyond the table to explore the food, craft and cultural traditions of the Valley.
Chef Nalini Moti Sadhu, Chef-Owner of Matamaal, has spent more than a decade championing the culinary traditions of Kashmir, bringing recipes rooted in her family heritage to audiences across India and internationally. Her approach is grounded in the preservation of regional techniques, ingredients and stories, with Matamaal serving as a platform for Kashmiri cuisine beyond the Valley.
At Nawab Saheb, Chef Nalini will spotlight the distinctive traditions of Kashmiri Pandit cuisine, a culinary tradition shaped by vegetarian and meat-based preparations and traditionally cooked without onion, garlic or ginger, distinct from the Wazwan repertoire more commonly associated with Kashmiri cuisine.

The menu presents Chef Nalini's interpretation of Kashmiri Pandit cuisine through a selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian preparations. Highlights include Dum Aloo, Nadur Yakhni, Paneer Tuj, Mutton Roganjosh, Rista, Tabakmaaz and Gaad Nadur, followed by traditional Kashmiri dessert and a whisky-flambé dessert. Guests can choose from à la carte offerings or two curated set menus, each paired with a selection of Indian craft spirits.
